Australian Chief Scientist: 5 years to "save the world"

Embarrassment

Embarrassment

No alarmism or exaggeration there. Mark it in your diaries for the 4 December 2014, because in five years time, it will be too late, we may as well shut up shop, and all commit harakiri. But the most astonishing thing is that this isn’t from some sandwich-board-wearing religious nut, this is from our Chief Scientist.

THE planet has just five years to avoid disastrous global warming, says the Federal Government’s chief scientist.

Prof Penny Sackett yesterday urged all Australians to reduce their carbon footprint.

Australians – among the world’s biggest producers of carbon dioxide – were “better placed than others to do something about it“, she said.

“Australians can make an enormous contribution, so why would we not rise to this challenge and this opportunity,” she told a business conference in Melbourne.

Really, it’s just embarrassing.

  1. You would think that a “scientist” could make numbers add up, wouldn’t you?

Back in April, she was banging on that there was 6 years left to save the planet:

That means that back then, the end of the world was pencilled in for 20 April 2015.

Why has it suddenly come in another 5 months? What’s the new information?

Why do women named “Penny” feel the need to cook climate data??

    More questions than answers.

Penny Wong, Penny Hackett, sorry, Sackett, what’s in a name?
Definitely a worry. Five years! One every seven months! that’s THREE years, yikes. If 2012 doesn’t get us the penny might drop! Glad she doesn’t challenge that the sun goes round the Earth. That would be a worry. Wonder if she is a member of the British Society – they were telling us that the consensus of scientists was that the Earth is flat and they now say CO2 is to blame. It is a, repeat after me, a con-cents-us. Where did Penny Wise go? We have Pound foolish leading the COT brigade. Where is Pound Wise?
