NSW climate fund raided to ease electricity prices

Raiders of the Lost Climate Fund

Thanks to pointless green policies, electricity prices were set to soar [even further – Ed] in New South Wales, so what better way to avoid such increases than by taking money from other pointless green policies? Makes sense really! As the worst Labor government in living memory stumbles to its inevitable election defeat in March, the Premier is trying to do something, anything, to please the long-suffering electorate:

KRISTINA Keneally is promising to axe electricity bill rises of $100 in a $1.5 billion bid to calm voter anger over power prices.

The Premier also flagged she would soon announce an electricity rebate for households earning less than $150,000 a year.

The moves come after months of revelations and campaigning by The Daily Telegraph to ease the pain on working families around the state.

“I can’t make bananas any cheaper, I can’t make the cost of petrol any cheaper but I can do something as the Premier of this state about electricity prices and that’s what I’m doing,” she said yesterday.

Ms Keneally said the Government would pay the entire cost of its $1.5 billion solar bonus scheme, until 2016, rather than all electricity users being charged.

To pay for the promise, the Government will strip its Climate Change Fund almost entirely of money for green projects until 2020, including scrapping its long-running rainwater tank rebate. (source)

Feel good story of the day.

  1. Oh, the irony.

If it weren’t for the ridiculous energy policies of the state governments, then the prices wouldn’t have gone up in the first place.

If they had just kept up with building electricity generation and network maintenance instead of using them as cash cows, then the prices wouldn’t be rising. If they hadn’t started handing over cash for solar rebates, then the prices wouldn’t be rising.

State governments should stick to their knitting and aim to deliver affordable water and power to the citizens. The first state government that makes a commitment to cheap water, cheap power and low state taxes is going to make a lot of people very happy and stay around for a long time.

Assigning the greens to the garbage bin (where they belong) would be a great start.

These price rises can all be traced back to noisy envirofascists forcing their crazy religious belief system onto the electorate. Governments who pandered to them, and who are now having trouble balancing the books, have no one to blame but themselves.

Wouldn’t it be nice if someone in the political limelight grew a set and laid the blame squarely where it belongs – at the foot of the green lunatic fringe.

Wouldn’t it be even nicer if there were some media followup and those responsible were held accountable by the increasingly accursed MSM.

But no, greens continue to spread their lies untouched…

  2. Hopefully one day we will see a Government dept. local or Federal make its voters aware of how the electricity bill is arrived at.

Spending monies to increase awareness, educate and assist the average householder with a system to monitor their electricity use.

Until then we will just a nation of electricity bill payers! With little knowledge of what we are wasting in the home. The biggest offset when electricity prices are on the rise is to slash the waste!!

      Oh please. You’re kidding right?…Surely???

Are you trying to imply that people having trouble paying their utility bills are all power and water wasters and are incapable of working out for themselves that if they waste power they are wasting money?

Wake up to yourself; you’re sounding delusional.

    • Slash the waste? Let me guess ‘Aussie Home Energy’ you’ve got a product that will do just that? Only nobody wants to buy one so you’re hoping you can convince the government to force everyone to buy one?

Why don’t you try getting a real business model, you know, producing things people want to buy? Instead of trying to bend rules to force people to buy your useless products?

Nothing here but a rent-seeking comment spammer, and not a very good one at that.

If it were my blog I would delete the comment or at least remove their link.
