The effect of the ETS on climate
So here we are, Australian Climate Madness prevails, as Malcolm Turnbull survives the leadership challenge, and the ETS inches ever closer to becoming law.
So as we enter into this new chapter in Australian stupidity, let’s remind ourselves of all the wonderful things the ETS will do:
- nothing for climate
- nothing for global temperatures
- nothing for local temperatures
- nothing for the Arctic
- nothing for polar bears
- nothing for the drought
- nothing for the Great Barrier Reef
- nothing for Kakadu
- nothing for Tuvalu and all the other sinking islands
- nothing for the ringtail possum and other cuddly creatures
- nothing for bushfires and heatwaves
- in fact, nothing for anything even remotely related to the climate
On the other hand:
- everything to damage Australia’s economy
- everything to damage Australia’s competitiveness
- everything to increase the cost of living for ordinary Australians
- everything to make the poorest in society worse off
- everything to damage emissions intensive industries
- everything to ensure that our industries move offshore
- everything to create more unemployment
- everything to raise electricity, gas and food prices
- everything to ensure there isn’t a double dissolution
- everything to make Kevin Rudd look big at Copenhagen
- everything to assist a pointless global “deal”
- everything to advance the cause of global government and global wealth distribution
- everything to advance Kevin Rudd’s selfish aim to be UN Secretary General in 2015
Have I missed anything there? Leave a comment if I have.
everything to ensure the Liberal Party remains unelectable for at least a decade.
Unfortunately, this makes the assumption that there will still be a Liberal party in 10 years time. I wouldn’t be putting any money on that – I do know that they’ll never get my vote again.
My plan is to encourage everyone to vote for the Greens. Since the megalomaniacs now in charge of both the major parties confidently assure us that Global Warming is the major moral challenge of our time, let’s not do this by half measures. Let’s put the lunatics in charge of the asylum – the AGW-believers deserve to have someone who is serious about this issue in charge. I can’t think of anyone better than the SS-Klimate-Korps to begin knocking everyone into shape. Let’s see how long that takes for the warm inner glow to wear off.
Norma may be right, at least until the recession finally hits in around 18 months when it will hit very hard indeed. Issues of debt will then take centre-stage as they should now. Questions associated with climate have but one element: does CO2 have a positive feedback on climate? The answer is essentially ‘No’, and people will gradually become aware of the scam to which staggering numbers of politicians, bureaucrats, academics and journalists have latterly defined themselves. The Liberal Party can surely cleanse itself of the Green followers. But it will have to think deeply and act quickly in order to regain public trust.
Eloi’s plan may work: it’s just that repairing the damage will be vastly more difficult than the wrecking. Whatever follows, the outlook is deeply disturbing.
Everything to make bankers and traders rich
Nothing for Turnbulls career
It seems as a merchant banker Mal can see the $ from trading in the carbon markets. He has almost single handedly passed into legislation the worst piece of garbage ever foist upon a gullible Australian public. At least when the Australia card was tried we had an opposition. The worst of it is that he’ll be gone in 6 months leaving this awful legacy.
The Liberal Party will follow in the footsteps of the Democrats at the next election if the ETS passes.
Alby Schulz is almost correct… They won’t spend the next couple of terms in the political wilderness, they will be decimated.
Turnbull wants it passed, because he is heading back to investment banking after politics – trading in carbon credits with all his G-S mates.
