Al Gore and wife Tipper to separate

Separating

From The Sydney Morning Herald:

Former US vice president and anti-global warming campaigner Al Gore and his wife Tipper have told friends that they will separate after four decades of marriage, an aide said Tuesday.

“They’ve asked for privacy during this time, for them and their family,” said Kalee Kreider, of the Office of Al and Tipper Gore.

Kreider confirmed that the Gores — whose affection for each other was evident at social gatherings in Washington for 40 years, notably during his failed 2000 White House run — had let friends know of their plans by email.

“We are announcing today that after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate,” they said in the message, first reported by the online publication Politico.

“This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration. We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further,” they said.

  1. Even for one who has fought Gore’s agenda, this is a very sad moment. Praying for conviction and reconciliation for them and for hope for their children.

  2. Forgive my cynicism, but this separation might be an attempt to sterilize some of his dishonest earnings before the fraud charges appear. Perhaps he sees the writing on the wall. Or maybe another woman will emerge – an alternative thesis that has stood the test of time.

@Mike: Well, he was never home, so why suddenly worry about his kids? Everybody knows where his priorities lie, and those don’t include family.

I think mrs Gore finally got fed up with mr Bore, like the rest of the world.
She made a wise decision. She could no longer hide the decline. It’s never too late to say goodbye.

So to mrs Gore I would say: Good for you! Enjoy life!
Have a family BBQ, now that it’s allowed again!

His divorce statement is as tediously emotionless as every other utterance he’s ever made, no wonder she pitched him.
My theory–she caught him with some of the Church of Carbon Come altar boys.

BTW Keith, in the US there’s a thing called “joint and several” liability that basically means if you profited you can be named in the lawsuit–and be made to pay.
