Stop whining, Windsor

Betrayed their electorates

Miranda Devine has little sympathy for Tony Windsor, and rightly so:

TONY Windsor and Rob Oakeshott are trying to play the victim now but the country independents are simply reaping the whirlwind of the betrayal of their deeply conservative electorates after the August election.

They sold out their constituents in return for flattery and back slapping in Canberra, and now they’re feigning shock when they get blowback. Give us a break.

Even though he tried to hide, everyone saw Windsor and his grinning, bearded mate Oakeshott standing there last week, with Julia Gillard, Bob Brown, Christine Milne and Greg Combet, at the press conference announcing the carbon tax that the Prime Minister expressly promised during the election campaign she would never impose.

And he’ll be hiding up the back of that sovereign sextet the next time they announce another of Brown’s pet policies – euthanasia, same-sex marriage and any number of wasteful crackpot green schemes that are anathema to conservatives.

Now Windsor is complaining about “shock jocks” and Coalition MPs and nefarious “others” who he claims are “involved in an orchestrated campaign” to inciting US-style violence against him. It’s just another smokescreen to hide from the consequences of his actions. (source)

In other carbon tax news, the Herald Sun reports that Labor heavies are telling Gillard to “put the bake on Greens”:

The right-wing delegation of Senator Farrell, and senior senators Steve Hutchins and John Hogg met the PM at 11.30am yesterday after the Greens claimed to have Government backing for a Bill to pave the way for gay marriage and legal euthanasia.

It is believed the PM said she had no knowledge of it and gave a commitment she would not back legal euthanasia. They had also confronted Treasurer Wayne Swan, who also claimed to be in the dark. [He usually is – Ed]

Senate Labor leader Chris Evans was later forced to apologise to a caucus of Labor senators at a 3pm meeting over what they claimed was a return to the Rudd-style lack of consultation and failure of government process.

Ms Gillard now faces a possible breakout of factional war with right-wing MPs accusing Labor left MPs – who support gay marriage and euthanasia – of conspiring with the Greens to deceive the Government. The issue was later resolved when the PM intervened to ensure Labor would vote with the Coalition in the Senate to delay the Bill by referring it to a committee.

MPs are also angry that the PM’s decision to introduce a carbon tax was not taken to the caucus.

Others told The Daily Telegraph they were receiving “virulent” emails complaining of a Labor “sell out” to the Greens, who combined with Ms Gillard to unveil the climate change pact. (source)

Paul Kelly in The Australian foreshadows an almighty crack down the middle of Labor, in a piece entitled “Brown leads ALP on a merry dance”:

The evidence, so far, is that Brown is outsmarting a divided Labor Party. Half the party is a willing conscript to the Green social agenda while the other half rejects this agenda on grounds of conviction and politics.

Brown sets the pace and Julia Gillard looks weak in responding to his social policy tactics.

Yet there is one impression Gillard cannot tolerate – and that is weakness. (source)

Interesting times ahead.

Windsor and Oakeshott, in BIG trouble and acting like political fauna.

Windsor, like a cornered rat, is eyeing the drainpipe.

Oakeshott, like a rabbit in the headlights, has got NO idea.

Ms Gillard now faces a possible breakout of factional war with right-wing MPs accusing Labor left MPs – who support gay marriage and euthanasia – of conspiring with the Greens to deceive the Government.

The MO of Gillard and her government is deceit and conspiracy. Why would any of its MP’s think they wouldn’t be targets of the con?

    Whatever it takes eh JuLiar?

Windsor is buckling under the pressure. Let’s keep it up (in a civilised way of course)

  3. Windsor might complain about shock-jocks – but he fails to realise that shock-jocks are just a radio based reflection of the current mood of the people. Sure, they try to manufacture that outrage sometimes, but it always falls flat unless the public genuinely believe it. In the case of the Carbon Tax, there is a rich vein of discontent in the public and the shock jocks don’t have to do anything to stir it up, they just sit back and let it vent.

Same goes for newspaper article comments online – any article about the carbon tax immediately fills with anger towards Julia and the Greens, with a few brave souls either trying to verbal Tony Abbott (as if he is the problem) and/or calling people names. None actually try and defend the tax on anything other than vague ‘it’s the right thing to do’ lines.

And the ‘death threat’ – the mere fact he forgot to report it to the feds shows how scared he was. Scared of not being able to whip up some publicity, that is.

My bet is that his retirerment will not be carried out within his own electorate. It will be a dishonourable discharge from public service when it happens.

Once a traitor, always a traitor. Of course Windsor sits on the cool millions he got for the coal to be mined from his farm. If he was so serious about coal mining he would have sat on his fat rectum on it rather than selling it.
It shows what type of character he is. Oakshott is of course similar type of low life living from day one off taxpayers. He claims he is doing so much for his constituency which is, as usual absolute rubbish. Now he finally got himself another income source being appointed by Gillar/Brown onto the climate tax commitee and the NBN comittee. Two useless projects to keep politicians and the so called public servants in money.

  5. How surreal — it’s like living in a Salvador Dali painting at the moment.
How ironic that these two grubby turds, Windsor and Oakeshott, having gotten into bed with the Greens to put Ju-liar into power — just to stick it to the Nationals — will probably be the ones to shoulder all the blame when the whole sorry mess blows up. If you were a writer, you couldn’t make sh!t like this up (not that anyone would believe, that is.)

  6. Nothing would please me more than to see either or both the two independents throw in the towel and cause a by- election(s). I find Tony Windsor particularly repulsive the way he throws insults in the media at Tony Abbott and the Liberals, and then runs squealing as soon as he cops some flak. Hopefully as the NSW election draws near, more people will realise how toxic the ALP brand has become, causing even more discontent, insults and recriminations…and more heat on these two turds.

PLEASE EVERYONE…attend the Protest Rally on 23 March, 2011 against the Carbon Tax. I have registered!

You need to email the Consumers and Taxpayers Association of Australia who are organising transport – email to cata@hotmail.com.au

Buses are being organised and return trip from Sydney is $25.00 return.

You can also go to http://www.2gb.com and under Chris Smith are also the details.

This is TOO IMPORTANT to ignore – we simply MUST stop this Government from taxing the air we breathe.

  8. I wonder what sort of slimy deal, did Windsor and Oakeshott do with that Devil Like women. It was these two independents that took our democracy and handed it on a plate to the Labour & Greens. Transparency! Accountability! Improved Process and integrity of Parliament! Policies which promote the national interest! ………Well, on four occasions this week in the Parliament Question Time, the Opposition seeked the national interests of the proposed Carbon Tax that will be implemented by Labour/Greens on 1 July 2012. On all four occasions, Windsor and Oakeshott agreed to side with Labour/Greens to not divulge any information on the said Tax. HOW IS THIS IN THE NATIONAL INTEREST? WHAT ARE YOU TWO HIDING?

How is it in the National Interest that the Labour and Greens Government use taxpayers money to partake in the biggest Con of this Decade. Air is not a tangible asset. You can not see it, hold it, measure it(to the absolute), nor control it. There are so many environmental influences, both manmade and that of mother nature that scientists really only have theorems to quantify the data to some form of interpretation, but it is not exact. Think about it…………..Earth is pretty big, and you know there is a whole lot of atmosphere out there.

Please don’t get me wrong, I believe pollution is not good for the environment and we should be all striving for an environmentally friendly way of life, however I also believe that both the Carbon Tax and Emissions Trading Scheme are as ludicrous as putting a bounty on each termite. The Gillard Brown Government inclusive of Windsor and Oakshott, are either implying that all Australians are stupid or are duping the Australian Public on a grand scale to introduce the financial trading of buying ‘the notion’ of air or ie ‘nothing’ for a price ie your ‘actual dollars’.
The Carbon Tax and/or the ETRS is very similar to the Con of the Last Decade. The investments of the toxic CDOs (Collaterlised Debt Obligations). What was the end result of this great big Con …………………..The Global Financial Crisis. Lets see, if you invest on the basis of a hypothetical value such as equity, but it is not tangible, so really it is nothing. Well I guess the investment will be a whole lot of nothings, and who won……the US lenders of course. Who lost, well obviously not the financial lenders, just pretty much everyone else in the western world. (yes my Super looked pretty sad)
There is a pattern here and essentially if you put your good dollars to buy the idea of something but is actually Nothing then you will get Nothing in return. Well Julia, I would prefer Australia gets left behind in this one, if you don’t mind.

Australia does not need to fall to peer pressure to that of the Kyoto or International Standards of what “constitutes” as permissible carbon offsets. I believe Australia has got extremely talented scientists and essentially enough land to avail itself to offset carbon or any other pollutant atom that may be on the agenda for the government of the day. There will always be some industries that unfortunately will have high emissions, but they are a minority and equally regulated on their emissions.
What Australians need to do is work with the industry and as science improves, then so does innovation through sustainable, environment practices. Industry will be rewarded by the good old fashioned regulator called consumerism. You do damage, people will vote via the hip pocket.
On a global scale, I believe Australia is in an excellent position in respect to carbon pollutants/offsets, and as environmental awareness increases then so to does our Environment. Honestly, how far is the Gillard Brown Government going to go with this, are we to pay for our very existence, unfortunately all humans fart, it’s a natural part of life. Gee I wonder if the Gillard Brown Government are delusional enough to believe that they can dictate the actions of the progressive nations such as China and India OR is Gillard Brown Government want to use the Australia’s offsets such as trees on the farmers land due to clearing bans to sell Offshore, hmmm .

The Gillard Brown Government is setting the agenda with scaremongering tactics of the Carbon Tax, stalling for when the Greens take over the senate. Only one good thing will happen. Australians will finally learn the true reason as to why Prime Minister Rudd was ousted; what are the Unions seeking to implement that was so terrible to Business that Rudd would not introduce. Unfortunately the deals are done, and we can only watch.

To Windsor and Oakeshott, congratulations in successfully stealing my democratic vote. How did you expect this parliament to work when you are controlled by gag orders, or threatened with a new election, hence your jobs. To endorse a person who lies, bullies, publicly humiliates and demeans any person who does not agree. This women is an embarrassment to this country, and definitely no role model for my daughter. This government is literally making me sick, and on that note I will pray that we as Australians will get the re-election that we so deserved, that the Australian people can have a Prime Minister that has the respect of the nation when they say the words “As your elected Prime Minister” and most of all I will leave it to Karma.
