The totalitarian instincts of the Left to shut down debate are on display for all to see – people of Australia, observe closely. GetUp! has filed a complaint with the Australian Communications and Media Authority about statements made by Alan Jones on 2GB about climate change, as the Sydney Morning Herald gleefully reports:
THE Australian Communications and Media Authority is investigating a complaint about alleged inaccuracies in statements on climate change by broadcaster Alan Jones.
GetUp! had made a complaint, which it believed was not being pursued by the broadcasting regulator, but Fairfax Media has learned ACMA is investigating the GetUp! complaint, and some others, concerning Mr Jones.
If the complaint is upheld, Mr Jones may be asked to acknowledge the statement was wrong and promise not to repeat it. (source)
So I assume the ACMA will also be investigating the outright lies and falsehoods in the carbon dioxide adverts? No, because political advertising is exempt from regulation and they can say what they like. Will they be investigating the ABC for not providing enough balance on the climate debate, and broadcasting Tim Flannery’s apocalyptic nonsense? Will Flannery be required to acknowledge his statements about Australia running out of water were wrong and promise not to repeat them? Where were GetUp! then, hmm?
Aren’t double standards wonderful?

Either way this goes, Jones will go to town on organisations like GetUp and people like Flannery about their false and misleading statements.

Well if that is worth a complaint how about the companies that were blackmailed & bullied into submission over the carbon tax by them ? The ACMA is a farce anyway look at how we are getting done over petrol prices & Coles & woolies allowed to fix the price !
With Labor and the Greens pushing for a media inquiry into perceived bias on the reporting of the carbon dioxide tax and GetUp attempting to gag commentators that don’t agree with them … it really is scary stuff.
If they can’t win the debate or try to destroy their opponents credibility then they’ll try and shut down the debate.
We all should defend our right for the freedom of speech and It’s time for the silent majority to make their voices heard. It truly is an attack on our Australian way of life by left-wing looneys.
i listened to this on the smh website. jones claims humans contribute 0.001% of co2 emissions. this is ALL he said that was factually incorrect in the article. the presenter of the article then said ross garnout was the govn’t climate change adviser. what are his climate science qualifications again? oh thats right, he has none. hes an economist. the bias is outstanding.
How about investigating Professor Tim Flannelhead the Rooster of Chicken little stories. No water in Perth, Brisbane dams empty 50 degree heat in 2010/11 summer et al? What a joke, we are in a vortex of apathy.

Most of the biggest AGW proponents have huge carbon footprints, probably up to and beyond 100 times the average person, and have stakes in polluting companies
According to the IPCC, Alan Jones is a bit off with his figure of .001, as is the counter claim of 28%. IPCC claims it’s 3%. Both are irrelevant. There is not a shred of evidence that man’s small contribution has caused any form of climate change.
Alan Jones is correct. I have posted the following many times before:
Total CO2 in the earth’s atmosphere is 0.038% (at approx 390 ppm – various slightly around the globe). Manmade is 3% of that or 0.0011%. Australia emits 1.5% of the 0.0011% equals 0.0000171%.
Alan isn’t so stupid as to make his quoted numbers up. I heard his interview with a climate scientist (forget who it was but it was an ‘anti-AGW’ guy, soon after the interview with Prof. Karoly), asking that guy to confirm Alan’s figure as correct..to which the resounding reply was ‘Yes’.
GetUp!’s issue is really with the scientists whose views oppose its own. Alan is just being used as the means to that end. I hope Alan comes on air with a response to this preposterous nonsense and all the loonies who propagate it. And I never thought I’d see the day where Australia would be staring down the barrel of the threat of a left wing police state. Gillard and Brown must be removed. Immediately. They are a toxic national security risk.
So many zeros can confuse people.
If the steel arch of the Sydney Harbour Bridge (39,000 tonnes) represents earth’s atmosphere a 5 percent reduction in Australia’s CO2 emissions by 2020 would neatly fit into a small bottle of soda water (340 grams).
And the Labor / Greens Alliance is going to kill off this nation’s economy for this??

Surely the Libs must soon confess that irrevocable evidence has been presented and accepted by them proving that climate science has been progressively corrupted by politicians, fawning economists and pseudo-scientists seeking power and glory through membership and control (and hence corruption) of UNEP and IPCC protocols and procedures.
Australia’s Dept of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency has steadfastly perpetuated this corruption, possibly without realising that this is the case.
We must persist, brick by brick, in knocking bricks out of the wall of climate science corruption and deception until the day arrives that a brick is removed that has the whole wall fall.

If Alan Jones is right, you have nothing to fear. It will be a severe humiliatin for GetUp! if they get shot down on this, so I thought you’d be keen to see it play out. Not sure what all the foaming at the mouth is about here.
