UK: Wind farm hell

Replace “wind” with “solar” and you have the carbon-priced future in Australia, except Australia doesn’t have a nuclear power backup for when it all goes horribly wrong. A truly enlightening, and shocking, video entitled “Europe’s Ill Wind” lifts the lid on the European wind farm fiasco. Thanks to the almost incomprehensible idiocy of politicians like Chris Huhne and Ed Miliband, the UK is heading towards deep Green oblivion. Last person to leave, please turn out the lights … no wait, they’ll be out already.

Green insanity. It’s a virus and it’s spreading. What is the cure?

Frighteningly, they have a cure for us that involves a “little red button”….

Well i suggest that all of these turbines are fitted with pedals at the base, so when its all proven to be a total waste of money we can round up all the greens & the scamming politicians that wanted these things & get them to peddle the damn things round, im sure theyll change their minds after a few hours!.

Nice one froggy. Or, could we constructively use human hamster wheels?

The idea sure fit’s with the green ideology.

  4. Meanwhile the ALP in NSW has quietly signed off on expanding electricity from coal fired power stations.

“‘‘The predicted shortfall in electricity generation cannot be met purely by renewable energy projects,’’ the department report said.”

And Bjorn Lomborg in todays Australian says:

“Germany led the world in putting up solar panels, funded by E47 billion ($66bn) in subsidies. The lasting legacy is a massive bill and lots of inefficient solar technology sitting on rooftops throughout a cloudy country, delivering a trivial 0.1 per cent of its total energy supply.”

I wonder when the federal ALP will notice that large scale wind and solar are really silly ideas.

  5. Luckily both Huhne (pronounced Hoon, which in the UK is a very rude word) & Mildred (MILlibanD Red ED – good, eh?) produce so much hot air that the bird slicers will turn very quickly.

  6. Christopher Booker’s The Real Global Warming Disaster: Is the Obsession with ‘Climate Change’ Turning Out to be the Most Costly Scientific Blunder in History? has some interesting facts on wind turbines:

The hundreds of wind farms that litter the English coastline together produce less output than one medium sized gas-turbine-fired power station.

Furthermore, they only work when the wind is blowing, and in very strong winds they are turned off to save damage to the turbines.

Their actual output is around 20% or their rated output and they are so heavily subsidised because the electricity they produce is about 5 times the cost of a traditional coal or gas-fired power station.

As stated in the video, they also need a conventional power station online all the time to ramp up as soon as the wind level drops, so they are not really replacing traditional forms of power generation at all. This is tokenism madness!
