Australia to UN: no more “socialism masquerading as environmentalism”

What the UN does best…

What the UN does best…

Watermelons: green on the outside, red on the inside. Environmental propaganda being used to implement another ideology is as old as the hills. So it’s about time the UN’s “climate aid” was called out for what it was. And no more syphoning of Aussie taxpayer dollars to unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats at the UN:

FEDERAL cabinet has ruled that Australia will not sign up to any new contributions, taxes or charges at this week’s global summit on climate change, in a significant toughening of its stance as it plans to move within days to repeal the carbon tax.

Cabinet ministers have decided to reject any measures of “socialism masquerading as environmentalism” after meeting last week to consider a submission on the position the government would take to the Warsaw conference.

A further document was produced after the meeting that outlines the government’s position.

The Australian has seen part of the document and it declares that, while Australia will remain “a good international citizen” and remains “committed to achieving the 5 per cent reduction” by 2020 of the 2000 levels of emissions, it will not sign up to any new agreement that involves spending money or levying taxes.

This rules out Australia playing any role in a wealth transfer from rich countries to developing nations to pay them to decrease their carbon emissions.

The decision hardens the nation’s approach to the UN’s negotiations amid a renewed push from less-developed countries this week for $100 billion a year in finance to deal with climate change.

Cabinet decided that Australia would consider joining a new scheme after 2015, but only if all the major global economies did likewise.

Senior ministers believe there is absolutely no chance of that happening.

The Abbott government has explicitly decided that it will not agree to any payments or accept any liabilities as part of any carbon agreement.

The government’s document also says that Australia “will not support any measures which are socialism masquerading as environmentalism”. (source)

Tell it like it is.

  1. The truth is that none of the money that was given to the UN in the past has gone to other nations anyway. The millions have been spent on rent, admin set up costs and wages for the vast number of peeps employed to distribute the monies…

    What a joke!

    • A very sad joke when you look at what was promised – but these socialist have no moral compass

    • e is the all climate change nonsense bureacracy is slam dunked into a dumpster….

Just think of how much money has been wasted – the knockon effect is staggering

This spawned massive green “industry” that was ( oh the irony ) unsustainable ( ROFLMAO )

And it was all based on a single lie.

      Shame.

Bring back the stocks in the middle of the village square..

  2. Three cheers. Early signs of leadership, something the country has been craving for. With a seat on the UN Security Council, perhaps Tony can follow through and start a move to abolish the IPCC for its woefully bad reports and wrong predictions, irrespective of ‘the science’.

  4. Can you imagine the pants-wetting, hand-wringing and cry-baby antics at the Climate Council over this decision. You gotta love it!

  5. This is such exciting news – Australia leading the way. I hope it is the signal the rest of the world needs to come forward, too. I hope many more say No to the UN and its bullying tactics. They all need to go – the UN and the IPCC with it, and this is exactly the way to do it. Countries CAN take back control and it’s through the government purse. Let’s do it.

  6. Hooray!

  7. Australia leads by example. What a joy to see true leadership from a country that many consider irrelevant and yet kicks above it’s weight in world affairs.
A shining light on the global map. Watch the dominoes of UN control come toppling down.
Hopefully, the American people will get over Obama and his Democrats and elect someone not afraid of telling the world what governments are: of the people, for the people, by the people, not self-interest groups or the corrupt UN.
Australia did and we’re on the “yellow brick road”.

    • Exactly right. It’s also becoming very clear why Labor were so desperate to try and knock Abbott out of the running with hysterical smears and lies. Just as they knew they had reinstated a psychopath as their leader in Rudd, they had also seen enough of Abbott to know how formidable he really is.

Well, they have Rudd all to themselves now – sitting there on the back benches scheming, plotting his revenge and eating his ear wax. And we have one of the best government leaders in the world today.

Wonder who will be the first to call for UN sanctions against the UN? Some environmental NGO, or a group of third world dictatorships, who need the cash to replace their limos and fund their wives’ shopping trips to London and Paris?
More importantly who will follow Australia’s lead? Not the US or Britain. China will not, nor Russia, nor US, nor the EU. The majority of countries are in the potential recipients category. That leaves Canada and New Zealand plus a handful of more minor countries. What it might do is further dampen the enthusiasm for an event that is more irrelevant and ignored by the world’s media with each passing year.

    • It is useful to see that throughout history, when a dominating power comes to an end , it is the lesser known leaders or countries that take up the baton and forge ahead.

Perhaps Australia, Canada and New Zealand is all it takes.

      Perhaps we are witnessing history.
